The MIII Grads "Campfire" A new idea for Module III graduates
“If I were here alone, these woods could be a frightful place. But now I have met my friend who loves me. We can talk to the road’s end.” CS Lewis
"Learn to love the practice and you will arrive at the art." Ann Patchett
“It’s not ok to come to class with nothing to show us.” Tom Hoffman (Patty's water color teacher)
Friends around a campfire in front of the Burgin beach house
There is something core to humans about sitting together around a campfire. We don't even have to be looking at each other in order to listen and connect. Coaching can get lonely. As with any rigorous and caring profession, the human capacity to support and challenge can erode when you get bored, overwhelmed or lacking in hope. And as humans, your coachees will attach their own meanings to what they see (“it must be me!”). When a coach becomes isolated, it’s always costly to their craft, to their presence and to their ethical confidence. Plus it becomes less fun. And when coaching stops being fun, we stop getting better.
So Here's the Big Idea for 2024 (I haven't offered this before, but I bet it will work) . . .
A small SeattleCoach Cohort of ten (max) Module III graduates. We'll meet monthly for support and challenge with a dash of supervision and case consultation--maybe even collaboration. Part mastermind, part life, members bring the focus to each meeting.
And because our focus is on the members rather than on new content, I won’t be offering ICF CEUs this time.
As always, you’ll have the option of peer coaching ("bartered") with other members.
The Dates: We'll meet virtually the last Thursday of most months, 3:30-5:00pm. The link will be open at 3:15pm for socializing, etc.
