When you see this badge next to the name of one of the ten people below, here's what it means . . .
Patty Burgin, MA, MCC Founder and Head Coach
Jennifer Winick, Julia Atalla, Julie Stringham Janneke van den Berkmortel, Jennifer Marcou
Through those two years of advanced content, and of lots of challenge and support, these ten coaches have become specialists in understanding how to build coaching cultures. And at how to leverage the wisdom, trust, and courage of human systems.
It’s said that a team is simply a group of people that trusts each other. These ten coaches have become a team. And they know how to build and shepherd the teams they coach. The badge above reflects my deep endorsement of each one.
It means that, following completion of their core education as a coach or coaching leader, they joined me for two years of advanced training in the crucial work of coaching and facilitating groups and teams. I called them "The Shepherd Coaches" because . . .
Shepherd Coaches are accessible and responsive.
Shepherd Coaches zoom in: They see around corners and attend to important details.
Shepherd Coaches zoom out: They know what they’re doing and they don’t lose track.
Shepherd Coaches "get sheep" (and they like them).
Deanna Meyer, Nickie Smith, John Lamb Kathryn Bergmann, Paula Fitzgerald Boos
And our work together continues. As their colleague, mentor coach, and friend, I love and respect each of them with all my heart. Each one exemplifies our "SeattleCoach Rules."
A note about SeattleCoach:
The ability to coach well adds an extra gear to the professional identity and engine of a leader, manager, entrepreneur, ministry or HR professional. It is equally rewarding and demanding.
At SeattleCoach we understand that the coaching profession is both ancient and new. As practitioners of this maturing work, our goal is to stay on the leading edge. We under‐promise and over‐deliver and think SeattleCoaches are among the best-prepared anywhere. As an intentionally small but scrappy program, we're like a good Northwest craft brewery: We start with excellent ingredients, work with small batches and add lots of careful attention, mentoring, supervision, excitement about learning and yes, fun, along the way. No fog machines. No one-size-fits-all formulas. The results are delightful.
