This is a fabulous illustration. I also love that you read and write it. I got to learn from two "channels." Thank you.

Never knew how important "WHY" was....or how predisposing to "judgement" WHY was....I always thought you have to start with why? I now know how you can seem judgemental and inhibit the coachee. Thanks. WHY focuses on the past - we need to focus on the future

This was so illuminating (as were others' comments). When I listened to this, I thought about the judgement coming not only from me (oops) but from the coachee and they might be tapping into some other feelings created by an inner critic that might get in the way. I can imagine someone saying "why am I doing this"...and us getting stuck. What I learned here that "why" might be too personal, close, complex a place to start...how, when, what, who provide different gateways to discovering the stories behind the actions. I LOVE the focus on the why things worked well for the coaches. It makes it safe to ask these hard questions. This will definitely help me refocus my curiosity in a productive manner. Thank you!
