The SeattleCoach Professional Training Program is in the sweet spot of the way
coaching is being refined and defined professionally. Plus terrific people keep coming into the program and making it better. We are hand-crafted, honoring our distinctive of developing proven leaders in face-to-face groups. Cohorts launch in January and June each year, and it is our tradition to host a complimentary pre-launch gathering for likely members to meet each other, to watch some coaching and to work on scheduling. The Big Idea
Our program is designed for proven leaders. Some are team leaders who are building a deeper understanding of as a part of their leadership and management portfolio. Others are beginning the process of becoming professional coaches, certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF).
We think of good training in the art and practice of coaching not only as mastery of a craft, but as "ethical confidence".
Unlike most coach‐training companies, SeattleCoach trains people face‐to‐face in cohorts of carefully selected people. Unlike most coaches, SeattleCoach graduates have access to continued local small group development and support. As an intentionally small but scrappy program, we're like a good Northwest craft brewery--lots of excellent ingredients to start with and lots of careful development along the way. We under‐promise and over‐deliver and think we are worth remarking about.
In all of our training we put leaders in close proximity to each other, believing that support, learning, innovation and fun will ensue.
The Goods
The proprietary SeattleCoach training takes place in stages. Each is highly interactive, building on individual strengths and team learning. We focus on bedrock coaching skills, an executive and systemic point of view and the realities of change management. For many coaches, credentialing by the International Coach Federation is the professional first stop. Completion of Modules I and II fulfill the Coach‐Specific Training required for certification by the ICF.

- Module I, "The Core Competencies of Coaching" leads participants through a thorough and experiential introduction to the bedrock skills, knowledge, attitude and philosophy of great coaching. We include a solid and practical introduction to theories and models of change, and supporting materials that you are authorized to use as you begin to see your own clients. This module lasts approximately three months and includes 42 hours of Coach‐Specific training.
- Module II, "Coaching Presence and Skills Mastery" builds on the skills, knowledge, attitude and philosophy of coaching, and focuses further on your personal leadership presence as an increasingly masterful Coach. This module too lasts approximately three months and includes 32 hours of Coach‐Specific training, along with some required mentor coaching.
- "Coaching the Coach" Group meets twice a month for on-going reflection, challenge, support and growth in the craft of coaching for coaches who have completed Modules I and II. Our next group begins in April, 2012.
- "Working Your Magic with Groups and Teams" An Advanced Module taught each Fall quarter.
